After nearly 50 years Wimbledon Market closed on the 9th April. The Fruit and Vegetable stall and Meat stalls have been at the market since it began and run by the same families and people. They both survived because of the excellence of their produce and sheer hard graft. All their customers became regular ones. I was so pleased to have the chance to document the last few weeks of the market that always meant such a great deal to my father. Like many he felt that Sundays were not complete without a trip to the market and the boot fair which came latterly and was one of the most successful car boot fairs in London running for over 20 years on the site.
